Challenge fund

The MECS Challenge Fund is part of the Technology Accelerator theme under the Ayrton Fund. It provides research funding to stimulate innovations in modern energy cooking technology and systems and support the advancement of technology-based cooking energy products, processes and services in low- and middle-income countries.

The Challenge Funds are launched as competitions, each with their own focus and objectives. The competitions are usually open to companies of all sizes (businesses including micro, small and medium-sized enterprises), academia, and other organisations, to support research projects which could lead to enabling safe and efficient modern energy cooking systems.

The Challenge Fund can only be accessed via one of the open competitions. Details of each opportunity will be made available on these pages, through the MECS newsletter and across our social media.

If you wish to join the MECS mailing list to be kept up to date on all MECS activities please sign up to the MECS newsletter mailing list.

Current and past challenges can be viewed via the drop down menu options and all publications resulting from the activities are available in the publications section. We encourage all those interested in the transition to modern energy cooking to learn from the activities already completed and build on this existing body of work to keep moving the transition forwards.
