Webinar announcement: “Issues of affordability and financing the transition to e-Cooking"

Date
30th June 2025

Registration is open for the forthcoming webinar “Issues of affordability and financing the transition to e-Cooking”, led by Growing Government Engagement in Energy Access (GGEEA) and supported by the UK Aid (FCDO) funded Transforming Energy Access (TEA) programme, to be held on Monday 7 July 2025, 14:30 – 16:00 BST. The webinar is the third event of a three-webinar series exploring the intersection of cooking technologies and electrification policies, focusing on affordability, financing mechanisms, and the role of innovative solutions like mini grids.

The transition to eCooking represents a critical step in achieving sustainability within the global energy sector. However, this transition is not without its challenges. Affordability and access to financing remain significant barriers that undermine the widespread adoption of eCooking technologies. Addressing these issues requires a nuanced understanding of the financial landscape, coupled with innovative approaches that make these solutions accessible to all. This session will delve into the underlying economic constraints and explore viable solutions to foster a broader shift toward eCooking technologies, with a focus on off-grid contexts. This webinar aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the financial challenges hindering the widespread adoption of eCooking and explore potential solutions and innovative financing mechanisms. The specific objectives are:

– To analyse the economic barriers preventing the scalability of eCooking adoption.

– To identify innovative solutions and financing models that address affordability issues.
