In response to the Kenyan Government’s request to the Energy Transitions Council Rapid Response Fund, Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) is leading a coordinated response to deliver a new National Clean Cooking Strategy (KNCCS) and Kenyan National eCooking Strategy (KNeCS) for Kenya.
This initiative is led by the Ministry of Energy (MoE), through the Directorate of Renewable Energy, in collaboration with a consortium of development partners, including United Kingdom Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT), Agence Française de Développement (AFD), GIZ Energising Development (EnDev) Programme and Climate Compatible Growth (CCG).
The programme will deliver two strategies. Nuvoni Centre for Innovation Research will develop a National eCooking Study and Strategy (KNeCS) and capacity building of MoE on this emerging sector.
The National eCooking Study and Strategy will feed into the overarching National Clean Cooking Strategy 2022-2028. EED Advisory are the lead contractor working with MECS and Ministry of Energy & Petroleum (MoEP) to develop and coordinate the KNCCS.
