The Energy Management Centre, the State Designated Agency (SDA) under the agencies of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in Kerala, along with its knowledge partner Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) in India – Finovista, organised the inaugural edition of the International Energy Festival of Kerala (IEFK) from 7-9 February 2024. The event, focused on energy transition and climate change, offered opportunities to engage with a diverse audience of energy professionals, forging purposeful connections, fostering collaborations, and exchanging knowledge and insights that will be integral in shaping the future of the energy landscape including energy transition in this part of the world.

As part of the IEFK programme, a panel discussion focused on “Societal Impact through eCooking Transition” was held on 8th February 2024 at Tagore Theatre, Trivandrum, Kerala. The discussion centred around the social impact and benefits resulting from the transition to eCooking in Indian society. The wide ranging discussion touched upon multiple related topics including barriers such as behavioural aspects, eCooking appliances including associated supply chains and their impact on individuals and institutions, safety concerns, and the need for financial incentives and policy interventions.
